NXT Plans Triple Threat Title-Contender Match

The NXT broadcast is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET on September 15.
Myles Borne’s attack on Tavion Heights occurred after Heights lost both the NXT North American Championship and the NXT Tag Team Titles at NXT Heatwave.
The late-added Cruz Montana and EK Prosper versus The Vanity Project match was set up after The Vanity Project interrupted Montana and Prosper in a social-media video.
The Rook-D’Angelo-Shugars Triple Threat winner will receive an official championship match against reigning NXT Champion Grayson Waller.
Montana and Prosper enter their match after teaming with Keanu Carver in the previous week’s six-man tag, where they lost to Rook, D’Angelo and Shugars and consequently missed out on an automatic place in the contender’s Triple Threat.
WWE NXT returns September 15 from the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando with a Triple Threat match that will crown the next challenger for NXT Champion Grayson Waller. Mason Rook, Tony D'Angelo, and Saquon Shugars will battle for the title shot, according to PWTorch.
The broadcast airs at 8 p.m. ET on The CW in the US and Netflix globally, BleacherReport reported. The card features multiple high-stakes matchups, including a late-added tag-team contest and a confrontation between former allies Myles Borne and Tavion Heights.
The Triple Threat match between Rook, D'Angelo, and Shugars carries major stakes. The winner earns a shot at NXT Champion Grayson Waller, 411Mania confirmed. This match determines who challenges Waller next for the top title.
Shugars and his allies initially competed in a six-man tag match the previous week alongside Keanu Carver against Rook and D'Angelo's squad. That loss kept Shugars out of automatic contention, making this Triple Threat his path to another shot at gold.
Myles Borne will publicly apologize to Tavion Heights during the broadcast, PWTorch reported. This follows Borne's shocking attack on Heights after NXT Heatwave. Heights had just lost both the NXT North American Championship and the NXT Tag Team Titles at that event.
The apology segment gives the story a chance to play out in front of the live audience. Heights and Borne were formerly tag-team partners before the attack turned them into enemies.
WWE added Cruz Montana and EK Prosper against The Vanity Project to the card. The Vanity Project sparked the match by interrupting Montana and Prosper in a social-media video, 411Mania noted. This late-match addition heightens the episode's drama.
Montana and Prosper are hungry after losing their six-man tag the previous week. That loss cost them an automatic shot at the NXT Championship through the Triple Threat. Now they look to build momentum against The Vanity Project.
The card also features Kali Armstrong versus Lizzy Rain in singles action. Meanwhile, DarkState's Cutler James and Osiris Griffin face Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux in tag-team competition, PWTorch reported.
