Michigan Supreme Court Removes Larry Nassar and 20,000 Others From Sex Offender Registry

Michigan's Supreme Court has removed 20,000 convicted sex offenders from its sex offender registry, including Larry Nassar, the former team doctor for the US women's gymnastics team and Michigan State University. The court ruled that amendments to the Sex Offender Registration Act can't be used to retroactively require registration due to older incidents. As a result, the Michigan State Police scrubbed 20K sex offenders whose crimes occurred before July 1, 2011. Nassar's name is still not found on the registry, despite a search for his name. The Eaton County prosecutor's office called this decision "deeply concerning".
