New York Rangers Goaltender Igor Shesterkin Scores First Goal in Franchise History

The New York Rangers are set to open their home schedule against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night. The team is expected to face a tough match between Igor Shesterkin and Boston's Jeremy Swayman. The Rangers, who finished last in the Eastern Conference last year, finished last with a 3-0 loss to the host Boston Bruins. The past two seasons have been difficult for the Rangers, with their performance on home ice going 0-6-1 and winless there in the campaign's first full month. General manager Chris Drury has since made significant changes to the roster, including the addition of high-scoring winger Nikita Kucherov and goalkeeper Andre Vasilevskiy. The Lightning, however, have not won a playoff series since the 2022 season.
