Taiwan Stocks Surge 538 Points Following Strong Global Technology Rally

The rally followed a mixed U.S. session: the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 95.40 points, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 104.25 points and the S&P 500 gained 12.74 points.
U.S. chip stocks provided additional momentum during a quadruple-witching session: Nvidia rose 1.34%, while TSMC’s American depositary receipts advanced 1.02% to US$434.67.
TSMC initially fell to NT$2,445 at the open before reversing higher, an early turnaround that helped restore confidence in the broader electronics rally.
ASE Technology Holding was among the strongest major electronics stocks, opening NT$17 higher at NT$655 and reaching NT$666, a 4.39% intraday gain, according to a market-opening report.
Investors were also watching the People’s Bank of China’s decision to keep the one-year loan prime rate at 3% for a 16th consecutive month, as well as Taiwan’s August export-orders data due after the close.
