Walmart Recalls 4.4 Million Wire-Bristle Grill Brushes Due to Ingestion Hazard

The recall covers 4,477,655 brushes, which were sold for between $1 and $28.
The recalled brushes were manufactured in China. Consumers may be asked to return them to Walmart or discard them.
Walmart’s recall was part of a broader wave: Cookout News estimated that about 21.5 million grill brushes had been recalled that year, including 3.6 million Conair/Cuisinart brushes, and noted that Weber had issued a large recall in February.
Consumers can contact Walmart about the recall at 800-925-6278, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Central Time.
Walmart is recalling 4.48 million Expert Grill metal-wire brushes sold between January 2021 and August 2026 due to a serious safety hazard. Medical Daily reports that loose bristles can break off, stick to food or the grill, and cause internal injuries if swallowed — potentially requiring surgery. No injuries have been reported yet, but consumers should stop using the brushes immediately.
The recalled brushes came in five different models with black plastic or stainless-steel handles, some with metal scrapers, and sold for $1 to $28 each. Walmart is offering refunds or store credit to anyone who purchased these products. Consumers can call 800-925-6278 Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Central Time to process their recall claim.
Totally The Bomb identified all five model numbers included in the recall. The Expert Grill brushes were manufactured in China and distributed through Walmart stores and online. Consumers may be asked to return the brushes or simply discard them, depending on which option Walmart offers during the claims process.
Walmart's recall is part of a larger wave of safety issues with grill brushes. Business Insider notes that about 21.5 million grill brushes were recalled that year alone. This includes 3.6 million Conair and Cuisinart brushes, plus a major Weber recall in February. The common danger across all recalls: metal bristles that detach and pose ingestion risks.
When wire bristles break off during use, they can become embedded in food or stick inside the grill. If a person accidentally eats contaminated food, the bristles can puncture the stomach or intestines. Herald Sun reports that swallowing these bristles could lead to serious internal injuries requiring emergency surgery. This is why Walmart acted quickly to notify customers and stop sales.
