AI readiness warning

Bill Gates warns that global governments remain unprepared for artificial intelligence changes.

Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist, Bill Gates, has stated that no government in the world is prepared for the changes artificial intelligence (AI) will bring to society. He warned of threats to jobs, concerns about attacks and the dangers of addiction to AI companions. However, he acknowledged that AI could help the world's poorest if managed properly and equally, and his foundation plans to spend $1 billion in the next two years expanding access to AI. The $1bn plan will be part of Gates' previously announced plans to invest $9 billion annually. Despite these concerns, Gates and his foundations hope AI will help narrow gaps between the richest and poorest rather than widen them.
