India advances to the semifinals in all four compound and recurve archery team events at the Asian Games.

India advanced in all four compound archery team events at the Asian Games, with both its compound and recurve mixed teams reaching the semifinals. Sahil Jadhav and Chikitha Taniparthi beat Mongolia and Kazakhstan in compound mixed, while Dhiraj Bommadevra and Kumkum Mohod recorded 6-0 wins over the UAE and Vietnam in recurve mixed. India’s men’s and women’s compound teams also moved into the last four after quarterfinal victories over Bhutan and Kazakhstan. The mixed-team events carry added stakes because the Asian Games offer LA28 Olympic qualification places, and India is seeking another strong campaign after winning a record nine archery medals in 2023.
India’s recurve mixed team is scheduled to face Japan in the semifinals on October 2, while its compound mixed team will meet Thailand on September 30.
The Asian Games offer eight LA28 archery quota places in total: two each in the men’s and women’s individual recurve events, plus one men’s and one women’s place awarded through each of the recurve and compound mixed-team events.
At the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, India’s compound archers won all five gold medals on offer; the recurve teams added a silver and a bronze.
Before their quarterfinal victories, India’s men’s compound team beat the UAE 235-215 and its women’s team defeated Mongolia 238-223 in earlier rounds.
