Aubrey Plaza Makes Public Appearance at Tony Awards, Debuting Baby Bump Supporting Chris Abbott

Aubrey Plaza made a rare public appearance at the 2026 Tony Awards on June 7, proudly showing her pregnancy while supporting partner Chris Abbott as he was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for his role as Biff Loman in the Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman. The ceremony, hosted by pop star Pink at Radio City Music Hall and broadcast on CBS and Paramount Plus, also highlighted the production’s major presence with multiple Tony nominations. Plaza confirmed she and Abbott are expecting their first child together earlier this year, telling SmartLess that “there’s a baby inside” her, and she described being excited about becoming a first-time mom. On the red carpet, Plaza coordinated in black-and-white looks while cradling her baby bump, while Abbott dressed in complementary black attire. Reports also note that the two began dating after meeting through shared work and went public as their relationship deepened in late 2025.
On the red carpet, Plaza’s outfit was specified as a “black column dress with white pinstripes by Chanel,” while Abbott wore a coordinated “black velvet jacket, white shirt, black tie and black pants.”
Abbott addressed Plaza’s pregnancy publicly on the “Today” show, cheekily reacting to congratulations by saying it was “too much” and that there was “There's too much going on,” after host Jenna Bush Hager asked for the baby news.
The Broadway revival of “Death of a Salesman” earned nine Tony nominations overall, underscoring that it was not just Abbott’s nomination but a major contender across categories.
When Plaza confirmed the pregnancy earlier this year on “SmartLess,” she added about becoming a first-time mom: “I am. Yeah. I’ve always wanted to see what that’s all about, you know?”
