Five teams open Missouri Valley Conference play undefeated following strong weekend performances.

Five teams opened Missouri Valley Conference play undefeated: Illinois State, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Bradley and Belmont. Northern Iowa extended its conference winning streak to 59 matches, while Illinois State improved to 11-2 overall; the weekly report also highlighted strong performances by players across the league. High school results included Cannon Falls’ 3-1 win over Chatfield, Rushford-Peterson’s 3-1 tournament record and LeRoy-Ostrander’s 3-1 finish at the Wabasha-Kellogg tournament. Southern Illinois completed its undefeated opening weekend with a sweep of Indiana State after a five-set match at Evansville; Ella Swansiger led the Salukis in both matches and had a season-high 16 kills against Evansville.
Belmont’s sweep of UIC was the Bruins’ first-ever win over the Flames and their first straight-set victory of the 2026 season. Brenna Kauffeld led the match with 11 kills on .455 hitting and added three blocks.
Drake rebounded from a loss in its Valley opener by sweeping Murray State, hitting .312 while limiting the Racers to .068. Katie Quick recorded 21 assists and 13 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.
Cannon Falls’ win over Chatfield featured 16 kills and 21 digs from C. Bicknese; the Gophers were listed at 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the Three Rivers Conference.
