Ayar Labs raises $150 million to advance optical interconnects for expanding AI data centers.

Ayar Labs’ TeraPHY optical engine delivers 8 terabits per second per chiplet and is designed to sit alongside accelerator and switch silicon, while its separate SuperNova module supplies the laser light.
The company’s additional funding extends the $500 million Series E announced in March; Ayar Labs had already raised $870 million through March, before the latest financing.
The $225 million secondary transaction was led by Antero Peak Group at Artisan Partners, giving early employees and investors liquidity rather than providing new primary capital to Ayar Labs.
Ayar Labs CEO Mark Wade said, “Copper interconnect is becoming the limiting factor for AI scale-up,” adding that the funding will expand the company’s work across the foundry and packaging ecosystem and support customer programs worldwide.
The optical interconnects are being developed with a target of becoming products customers can ship at scale around 2028–2029, according to Finimize’s account of the announcement.
