Minneapolis apartment shooter was previously investigated for displaying a handgun in June

The man responsible for a deadly shooting at an apartment building in Minneapolis, Carlton Johnson, had been investigated in June for displaying a handgun, but was not charged. The Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty stated that Johnson had a legal permit to carry the weapon and that there was insufficient evidence to prove a charge beyond a reasonable doubt. The shooting left two people dead and five others injured, including two Minneapolis police officers. The shooter was also killed by police later. The neighborhood where the shooting occurred has been receiving support from the Red Cross and 16 displaced residents have been sheltered in a nearby church.
