The Sarnia Sting have signed second-round draft pick Evan Bannister, a 16-year-old forward who captained the Credit River U16 AAA Capitals last season Daily Herald Tribune. Bannister was chosen 30th overall in this year's Ontario Hockey League priority selection after posting 64 points in just 33 games.
The six-foot, 176-pound forward is described as "one of the more dominant players in U16 hockey last year" by Sting general manager Dylan Seca Daily Herald Tribune. Bannister is the second player from the Sting's 2026 OHL draft class to sign, following first-round pick Adrian Sgro's agreement in June.
A Star Captain Joins Sarnia's Future
Bannister led the Credit River U16 AAA Capitals as captain during last season. His 64 points in 33 games showed exceptional scoring ability for his age group. The Sting clearly believe he has what it takes to play in the Ontario Hockey League.
