Stanford defeats Georgia Tech for first ACC win behind Davis Warren

Stanford defeated Georgia Tech 34-27, giving first-year coach Tavita Pritchard his first ACC victory after the Cardinal had scored just 13 points in their previous two conference games. Quarterback Davis Warren threw for a career-high 396 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with nine receivers without an interception. Caden High caught four passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns, including the tying score and a fourth-quarter touchdown that extended Stanford’s lead. Georgia Tech pulled within seven late, but Stanford intercepted quarterback Alberto Mendoza on the Yellow Jackets’ next drive and held on to win. Georgia Tech entered the road game with several key players sidelined, including starting defensive end Jordan Walker, safety Savion Riley and left tackle Ethan Mackenny.
Stanford took the lead late in the third quarter on a fourth-and-10, 33-yard back-shoulder touchdown pass from Davis Warren to Nico Brown.
An early-fourth-quarter Georgia Tech fourth-down attempt ended with Omar Staples sacking Alberto Mendoza for a 10-yard loss; Stanford then used the short field to score Caden High’s go-ahead-extending touchdown.
Georgia Tech’s final possession ended after Mendoza was called for intentional grounding while scrambling, resulting in a 32-yard loss.
The teams had met only twice before, with Stanford losing both bowl matchups: 24-14 in the 2001 Seattle Bowl and 18-17 in the 1991 Aloha Bowl.
Beyond the three unavailable starters mentioned in the summary, Georgia Tech was also missing freshman receivers Darnell Collins, Kentrell Davis and Coi Jean-Noel, as well as safety Fenix Felton and freshman Trae Stevenson Jr.
