Jasprit Bumrah returns from injury for India's T20I series against Afghanistan

The series was arranged after the Afghanistan Cricket Board proposed hosting the matches in India, marking the first time Afghanistan has hosted the T20 World Cup champions in this format; both captains attended the pre-match press conference and trophy unveiling.
Shreyas Iyer said that, although Bumrah is highly experienced, a player returning from injury needs game time and confidence before a major tournament: “I would want more game time and more confidence leading up to a certain tournament.”
Iyer described Yash Thakur as a consistent performer for Vidarbha, which has won championships, and noted that the pacer had already been considered as a backup ahead of the Asian Games. Thakur made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in July and took two wickets in two matches.
India’s fielding drills received particular emphasis under newly appointed coach Subhadeep Ghosh, with the focus possibly linked to the team’s poor fielding on its June-July United Kingdom tour, where several catches were dropped during series defeats by Ireland and England.
Sooryavanshi’s net session came immediately after the Duleep Trophy final, leaving him only a few days to switch from red-ball cricket to the demands of T20 cricket; the report said he also struggled during catching practice.
