Chennai Super Kings are set to appoint former India fast bowler Mohit Sharma as bowling coach for the 2027 IPL season, reuniting him with the franchise where he played earlier in his career. Head coach Zaheer Khan recommended Sharma for the role as CSK reshapes its coaching staff following Stephen Fleming’s departure; Sharma is expected to replace Eric Simmons. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed the appointment, citing Sharma’s past contributions as a player and expressing confidence in his coaching impact.
Mohit Sharma has played 120 IPL matches and taken 134 wickets; he claimed 41 wickets over two seasons with Gujarat Titans.
Sharma last played in the IPL for Delhi Capitals and had two separate stints with CSK, spanning four seasons.
Sharma retired from professional cricket in December of the previous year, according to the report.
After his playing career, Sharma had also taken on coaching and mentoring roles, giving him experience in developing T20 bowlers.
