MediaTek launches new mobile chip using advanced 2-nanometre technology to boost AI.

MediaTek has launched a new mobile chip, the Dimensity 9600 Pro, using Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co's advanced 2-nanometre process. The company also introduced the DimDimensity 960M, aimed at a broader segment of the flagship smartphone market. The 9600Pro includes a dedicated AI processor, capable of handling complex generative-AI applications on the phone, and a 51% improvement over the previous generation in processing a user's prompt before an AI model begins generating a response. MediaTek's market value surpassed that of Qualcomm earlier this year. The firm is also expanding its AI business into data-centre and custom-chip products as technology companies invest billions in AI infrastructure.
