Packers Announce PUP List: Parsons Expected to Miss Early Season, Kraft Nears Week 1

Parsons is expected to be placed on the Packers' PUP list before the first practice and is likely to miss at least the first four games of the season due to a left ACL tear.
Kraft remains on the PUP list with an ACL injury, is expected to be ready for Week 1, and the Packers can activate him from the PUP at any point in camp or the preseason; he is also a candidate for a contract extension before the regular season.
If Parsons is out, Lukas Van Ness and Barryn Sorrell are expected to shoulder more responsibility early in the season.
Under PUP rules, players placed on the list before training camp can be activated for the season opener; if not activated, they must sit out the first four games of the season.
The Green Bay Packers placed tight end Tucker Kraft, along with four other players, on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list ahead of training camp, which begins July 29. Fox11 reported that TE Luke Musgrave, OL Aaron Banks, DL Javon Hargrave, and CB Kamal Hadden also landed on the list.
The bigger name still coming is edge rusher Micah Parsons. Packers Wire reported that Parsons is expected to be placed on the PUP list as early as Tuesday. He tore his ACL in December and could miss at least the first four games of the 2026 season.
Kraft tore the ACL in his right knee last season, but his outlook is encouraging. Heavy reported that Kraft himself has said he expects to be ready for the season opener. The Packers can activate him from the PUP list at any point during camp or the preseason.
4for4 noted that Kraft is currently ranked fourth among tight ends in their system. He is also a candidate for a contract extension before the regular season begins. His return will be a key storyline as Green Bay builds out its offense.
Parsons is the Packers' marquee offseason acquisition and their biggest concern heading into camp. He tore his left ACL in December. Packers Wire reported that he was not on the initial PUP list but is expected to be added on Tuesday before the first practice.
Under NFL PUP rules, players placed on the list before training camp can still be activated for Week 1. But if they are not activated in time, they must sit out the first four games. For Parsons, a return before October looks unlikely.
With Parsons potentially unavailable through the early weeks, Green Bay will need others to fill the gap on the defensive front. Lukas Van Ness and Barryn Sorrell are both expected to take on bigger roles. Neither has been a featured pass rusher at the NFL level yet.
How those two perform in camp could shape the Packers' defensive identity early in the season. Green Bay's front office knew the risk when it brought in Parsons. The first month of 2026 will test how deep their edge depth really is.
Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave also landed on the PUP list with an undisclosed injury. CBS Sports noted that Hargrave signed a two-year, $23 million contract with Green Bay. His absence during camp is a concern for a defensive line already missing Parsons.
Running back Chris Brooks remains on the non-football injury list, a separate designation from PUP. The Packers are managing multiple rehab timelines at once. How quickly players like Kraft and Hargrave return will shape how Green Bay looks when the real games begin.
