Florida Mother Arrested After Leaving Four Children Alone For Bahamas Cruise

North Miami Beach resident Nathalie Belizaire, 29, was arrested after allegedly leaving her four children—including a 2-month-old and a 2-year-old—home alone during a three-day Carnival cruise to the Bahamas. Police say Belizaire had told the infant’s father she would leave the children with their great-grandmother, but the great-grandmother said Belizaire never brought them over. The father went to the apartment, found the children alone, and called 911; officers found all four hiding together in a bathroom, and they were reported unharmed. Police also said Belizaire texted her brother to check on the children during the weekend. Belizaire was taken into custody when she returned to PortMiami and faces four counts of child neglect; Florida’s Department of Children and Families is investigating.
Police specified that Belizaire faces four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm.
Carnival said U.S. Customs and Border Protection escorted a guest off the ship when it arrived in Miami, describing the case as a law-enforcement matter unrelated to the cruise or the ship’s operation.
The arrest report says the infant’s father became suspicious after seeing a WhatsApp story that appeared to show a cruise-ticket purchase; the report places the post on Thursday.
Law&Crime reported that Belizaire remained in Miami-Dade County Jail, with no bond set and no next court date listed.
The Daily Mail reported that Belizaire had also been arrested in January 2025 over an allegation that she pepper-sprayed a neighbor following a dispute involving Belizaire’s daughter.
