Indian Cricket Prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Featured Among TIME100 Next Emerging Leaders

TIME’s 2026 TIME100 Next profiles spotlight emerging figures across sport, business, science, technology, entertainment and climate justice. Indian cricket prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set IPL records, led India to an Under-19 World Cup title and debuted for the senior team; mathematician Yu Deng won a Fields Medal for work explaining how interactions among tiny particles produce the flow of gases. The list also features fintech entrepreneur Hosam Arab, data-security entrepreneur Yotam Segev, Moonshot AI founder Yang Zhilin, and Indian entrepreneur Pawan Kumar Chandana, whose Skyroot Aerospace reportedly became the country’s first private company to put customer satellites into orbit; UAE minister Shamma Al Mazrui launched a $27 million nonprofit fund. Actors Himesh Patel, Yerin Ha and Dominic Sessa are recognized for screen roles, alongside comedian Druski and singer Raye for their performances. Yawata Mayor Shoko Kawata drew debate and backlash after taking 16 weeks of maternity leave while delegating authority, as her city expanded family support. Ecologist Muhammad Azmi Abdul Wahab advanced large-scale coral restoration, including projects credited with producing about 10,000 juvenile corals in the Maldives, while lawyer Julian Aguon helped represent Vanuatu in a landmark International Court of Justice climate case affirming states’ obligations to protect people from climate harm.
Hosam Arab said his experience with Namshi showed that the main obstacle to digital payments in the Middle East was consumer trust, not access to finance. He launched Tabby in 2019 after concluding that customers preferred to pay once their orders arrived.
Yu Deng used combinatorics to identify patterns in the many possible interactions among tiny particles, helping explain how their motion gives rise to the smooth flow of gases. The work may eventually help researchers understand other complex systems.
Yotam Segev argued that AI agents require a new security mindset because they cannot be fired or disciplined for mishandling company data. His company, Cyera, was valued at $12 billion, according to TIME.
Sooryavanshi made his professional debut at age 12, and the Rajasthan Royals later made him the youngest player ever bought at an IPL auction. He said that when he is on the field, he believes he can “snatch the match from opponents’ hands.”
