World No. 1 Jannik Sinner withdraws from Shanghai Masters due to injury

Jannik Sinner, the world No. 1 tennis player, has announced he will not participate in the Shanghai Masters due to a right knee injury that has been plagiaia since he won the Wimbledon title in July. Sinner had already withdrawn from the ongoing China Open in Beijing, which he won in 2025. His absence has resulted in a period of uncertainty for the ATP Tour, with Carlos Alcaraz, the seven-time Grand Slam champion and Sinner's arch-rival, returning to tennis at the U.S. Open less than 24 hours after Alcaraza announced he would be back in New York. The absence of Sinner and AlcarAZ has benefited 29-year-old German Alexander Zverev greatly, allowing him to become world No 1 for the first time.
