Major Mining Companies Outline Aggressive Expansion Plans and Strong Production Growth

Mining companies highlighted expansion plans built around growing production and resources, while emphasizing disciplined investment, cost control and shareholder returns. Aura Minerals has expanded to six operating mines and is developing projects intended to lift gold-equivalent production, while also reporting substantial recent growth in EBITDA and returning capital to shareholders. Lumina Metals is advancing large copper-silver deposits in Poland, backed by a major IPO and a planned phased development approach; it is also weighing ways to unlock the value of silver alongside its copper plans. Hecla Mining is relying on organic growth at its North American silver operations, with projects at Greens Creek and Keno Hill expected to support future output, while ACG Metals is ramping up a Turkish mine and pursuing refinancing and further acquisitions. Fresnillo reported strong first-half production, cash and shareholder distributions, and is advancing a broad pipeline of brownfield and greenfield projects to sustain longer-term growth.
Aura said its Era Dorada project in Guatemala is designed to run on 100% clean geothermal energy and provide potable water to the local population.
Lumina signed a letter of intent with Polish copper producer KGHM for strategic cooperation and copper concentrate supply.
Hecla’s Greens Creek pyrite concentrate circuit is targeting annual production of 1–1.2 million ounces of silver and 10,000–15,000 ounces of gold, with first production expected between Q4 2027 and H1 2028.
ACG is seeking to refinance its $200 million Nordic Bonds, initially issued at a 14.75% coupon, at high single-digit rates; it estimates the refinancing could save $10 million in annual interest.
Fresnillo expects its Valles Underground project to begin ore production in the fourth quarter of 2026; Herradura Underground is targeting 120,000–160,000 ounces of gold annually by 2032.
