Florida Jury Acquits Former Deputy in Fatal Shooting of U.S. Airman Roger Fortson

A Florida jury acquits a former sheriff's deputy, Eddie Duran, 40, of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office in northwest Florida, of Okaloos County, acquitted him of manslaughter in the 2024 killing of a U.S. Air Force senior airman, Roger Fortson, who was 23 when he was shot dead. Duran had been charged with one count of manslaughter with a firearm and served with the Okalososa County Sherriff's Office. State Attorney Ginger Bowden Madden praised the jury's verdict and thanked the jurors for their service.
