College Football 27 Arrives July 9 with Revamped Dynasty, All 138 FBS Teams

EA Sports College Football 27 is officially out — but only for early access players right now. Palm Beach Post reports the full worldwide launch lands on July 9, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for the first time ever. MVP+ members got in first on July 2, with Deluxe Edition owners following on July 6.
This is the third entry in EA's rebooted college football franchise, and it's the biggest one yet. All 138 FBS teams are included, two new ones are added, and nearly every major mode got a meaningful upgrade, according to Florida Today.
Two New Schools Join All 138 FBS Teams
North Dakota State and Sacramento State are the two newcomers in CFB 27. NDSU made a $17 million move to the Mountain West Conference. Sacramento State joined the Mid-American Conference. That brings the total FBS team count to 138, according to Herald Tribune.
The timing matters too. The NCAA ruled in June 2026 that schools moving up from lower divisions no longer face a two-year postseason ban. That means NDSU and Sacramento State can compete for the College Football Playoff in Year 1 of your Dynasty — a first in the real world and in the game.
Dynasty Mode Now Mirrors Real NIL Budgets
The biggest gameplay change is in Dynasty mode. CFB 27 replaces old recruiting points with NIL budgets — real money you manage to sign players. Ohio State and Alabama start with $12,500 in NIL Dynasty Points. Virginia has about $3,350. Kent State and UMass get just $410, according to TC Palm.
The Coaching Carousel also got smarter. You can now see other schools' budgets and rosters before deciding to take a new job. That adds real strategy to building a program over time. EA calls the overall approach a "Dynasty Blueprint" — a system that lets you set long-term goals for your program.
Oregon Tops the Ratings; Indiana Raises Eyebrows
EA released the official team ratings on June 23. Oregon leads with a 91 overall. Ohio State and Indiana both sit at 90. Notre Dame and Texas come in at 89. Indiana's 90 rating sparked debate online, since the Hoosiers are not a traditional powerhouse, according to The Ledger.
Florida fans are also unhappy. The Gators earned an 84 overall despite having speedy receiver Eric Singleton Jr. at 95 speed. Low quarterback scores dragged the team down. Local analysts called it "disrespect." Head coach Curt Cignetti of Indiana made the Deluxe Edition cover — the first coach on a cover in the modern franchise era.
Mascot Mashup Mode Replaces Players With 120 Mascots
CFB 27 brings back a fan-favorite idea: playing as mascots. The new "Mascot Mashup" mode features over 120 mascots in place of human players. EA confirmed the mode in a June 24 deep dive. It is seen as a way to pull in younger and more casual fans, according to NWF Daily News.
On the PC side, CFB 27 launches on Steam, Epic, and the EA App — a first for the modern franchise. The Standard Edition costs $69.99. PC players are excited about the potential for roster mods, though some console players worry that PC tools could affect the fairness of online dynasties, according to Florida Today.
