SMU Volleyball Coach Sam Erger Suspended For Two Matches Over Impermissible Communication

SMU volleyball coach Sam Erger was suspended for two matches due to "impermissible communication". The team, ranked No. 8, defeated Colorado State 3-1 and UC Davis 3-2 without Erger. With Erger back coaching, SMU fell to No. 18 TCU 3- 2. Erger, who is currently in her fifth season at SMU, has led the Mustangs to the NCAA Tournament three times, including in 2025 when SMU reached the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history. She was named AVCA Southwest Region Coach of the Year in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
