RBC Launches Community Solar Program to Support Local Renewable Energy Projects

RBC has announced the RBC Community Solar Program, a national initiative to help local organizations launch solar energy projects across Canada. The program involves purchasing renewable energy credits (RECs) from participating organizations, creating an additional revenue stream while reducing their operational costs. The initiative aims to help RBC reduce its operational emissions while supporting community-led solar energy development and grid decarbonization. The first community solar location is a 109.8-kilowatt installation, which is expected to generate enough solar energy to power approximately 12 homes. The RBC's purchase of renewable energy certificates (REC) will generate long-term revenue through RBC’s commitment to reduce its own operational emissions.
