Questrade Launches Pioneering AI-Integrated Platform and Agentic Finance Engine in Canada

Questrade, Canada's largest digital brokerage, has unveiled a sweeping platform overhaul that includes $0 options trading, an options cashback program, and a first-of-its-kind financial automation engine called Flows, according to Leader-Post. The company is also becoming the first Canadian financial institution to connect client accounts directly to AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude.
The announcement marks a major shift in how Canadians can manage their money. Questrade says the new tools give clients more speed, more access, and more control over their finances, according to The Sudbury Star.
Questrade is moving beyond simply offering $0 options trading. Through its Questrade Plus subscription program, clients can now earn cashback on options trades, according to Brantford Expositor. This makes options trading not just free, but potentially profitable just by placing trades.
Options trading lets investors buy or sell assets at a set price on a future date. It is a popular tool for experienced investors. By removing costs and adding cashback, Questrade is lowering the barrier for Canadians who want to use these strategies, Whitecourt Star reported.
Questrade is launching Flows, which it calls the first financial automation engine in Canada. Flows lets clients set up rules and triggers that move money or execute trades automatically, without needing to log in each time, according to Mitchell Advocate.
Think of it like setting up automatic bill payments, but for investing. A client could set a rule that automatically moves cash into an investment when their balance hits a certain level. Questrade says this kind of hands-free control has never been available at a Canadian financial institution before.
Questrade is now the first Canadian-based financial institution to officially link client accounts to AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude, according to Leader-Post. Clients can connect their Questrade accounts and ask AI tools questions about their portfolio, transactions, and financial goals.
This is a big deal because most banks keep a strict wall between client data and outside apps. Questrade is tearing that wall down in a controlled, official way. The move puts Questrade ahead of Canada's major banks in adopting AI-powered personal finance tools, The Sudbury Star reported.
Alongside the product launches, Questrade is also rolling out a redesigned logo and updated visual identity, according to Brantford Expositor. The rebrand is meant to reflect what the company calls a new era of financial services in Canada.
Questrade says all of these changes — automation, AI connectivity, cashback on options — are designed to give "ambitious Canadians tangible advantages to pursue extraordinary outcomes." The company positions itself not just as a trading app, but as a full financial platform built for the next generation of Canadian investors, Whitecourt Star reported.
