Unifor and Stellantis reach negotiating impasse over future of assembly plants

Unifor and Stellantis have reached an impasse in collective bargaining negotiations after 10 days of intensive talks. The parties had set a deadline of September 11, 2026 to reach a tentative settlement. The issue is the future of Stellants’ Brampton Assembly Plant and the company has yet to confirm plans for the Windsor Assembly Plant or Etobicoke Casting Plant. Stellant has offered only conditional agreement with the economic pattern settlement tied to the closing of Brampton, creating complications for reaching a deal. The Unifor Master Bargaining Committee is considering next steps. The current collective agreement expires on 20, 20 26 at 11:59pm.
