Mississippi police arrest a man for the homicide of Tasia Fortune following medical examiner findings.

Mississippi police have arrested a man in the death of Black woman Tasia Fortune, who was found hanging from a tree last month. Jackson Police Chief RaShall Brackney announced that the arrest was made following the state medical examiner's office's determination that the death was a homicide. The man was arrested when police encountered him walking on the street. The victim's mother, Christy Spivey, expressed shock at the news of the arrest and disbelief. Fortune died less than a year after the hanging deaths of two Black students and a white man.
