Iowa State Season Opener Victory

Jaylen Raynor shines with four touchdowns as Iowa State defeats Southeast Missouri State.

Iowa State opened the season with a 38-10 victory over Southeast Missouri State, with Jaylen Raynor throwing for two touchdowns and running for two more. This win was the first for Iowa State's new coach, Jimmy Rogers, who was brought in after Matt Campbell left to take the head coaching job at Penn State. Raynor, who started 33 games at Arkansas State before transferring to the Cyclones, opened the scoring with a 7-yard touchdown run on Iowa State’s second possession. He also threw a 24-yard TD pass to tight end Vince Benetti and a 10-yard pass to Easton Miller as Iowa State built a 28-7 halftime lead. The Cyclones had a 303-209 edge in offensive yards and almost a 14-minute edge in time of possession.
