Vusion Extends JYSK Partnership, Migrating Over 1,200 European Stores to Cloud-Native Solutions.

Vusion has expanded its partnership with European home furnishings retailer JYSK in one of the largest retail tech deals in Europe this year. The agreement covers 450 Nordic store upgrades, a fresh rollout in 750 additional stores, and a full migration of JYSK's legacy systems to VusionCloud, according to PR Newswire.
The deal brings the total number of affected stores to around 1,200 — roughly 40% of JYSK's global footprint of more than 3,300 locations. All of JYSK's Vusion infrastructure will move from on-premise servers to a single cloud-native platform, Newswire reported.
JYSK first began testing Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs) with Vusion — then called SES-imagotag — around 2017. ESLs are small digital price tags on store shelves that can be updated remotely in minutes instead of by hand. After years of steady rollout, JYSK now wants to go further, according to MarketScreener.
The biggest change is not the new labels. It is the shift from an on-premise system — where each store or region ran its own local servers — to VusionCloud. That means JYSK's headquarters in Denmark can now push price changes and new features to every store in Europe instantly, without sending a technician on-site.
Moving to VusionCloud removes what tech experts call "legacy debt" — the cost and complexity of maintaining hundreds of local server setups. Sebastien Fourcy, Senior Executive Vice President for EMEA at Vusion, said the move is "a critical step for JYSK to leverage the full potential of our platform, enabling them to be more agile and data-driven," according to PR Newswire.
JYSK's Chief Information Officer Keld Marott said the retailer had "seen the positive impact" of Vusion technology on store operations over several years. He added that VusionCloud will deliver "a more scalable and flexible platform" for the future, as reported by Yahoo Finance.
With the cloud in place, JYSK can roll out new in-store features — like blinking shelf labels to guide shoppers to click-and-collect orders — across all 1,200 stores at once. Analysts note this "customer stickiness" makes it far harder for JYSK to switch providers once its pricing logic is built into Vusion's cloud, according to MarketScreener.
The financial logic is also clear. Automating price updates saves staff hours every week. JYSK expects the reduction in manual labor costs to pay back the upfront investment within 24 to 36 months. The cloud also lets JYSK collect shelf-edge data — tracking how price changes affect real-time sales — to feed future AI-driven decisions.
Not everyone welcomes the technology without questions. Some European consumer advocacy groups have raised concerns about ESLs enabling "surge pricing" — raising prices during busy shopping hours. JYSK has not said it plans to do this, but the technical ability to change prices across 1,200 stores in minutes has drawn attention from watchdogs, according to PR Newswire UK.
Sustainability questions also follow the deal. Each ESL tag contains a small lithium battery. With Vusion managing over 1 billion digital tags worldwide, battery waste is a real concern. Vusion points to recycling programs and a battery life of up to 10 years per tag as its answer to critics, as noted by Yahoo Finance.
