ATB Financial Names Jocelyn Talvio Group Head of Everyday Financial Services to Boost Client Experience

ATB Financial has named Jocelyn Talvio as its new Group Head, Everyday Financial Services (EFS), effective immediately as of June 30, 2026. Talvio, a 22-year veteran of the Alberta-based Crown corporation, takes the helm of a division that serves as the primary banking gateway for more than 800,000 Albertans, according to Canada Newswire.
The appointment signals ATB's deliberate bet on internal talent. Talvio started her career on the front lines — in ATB's branches — and has since held senior roles across Finance, Treasury, and Client Experience. She now oversees more than 250 locations and roughly 2,000 team members, including the company's Client Care Centre.
Talvio's rise is a defining part of her story. She began as a branch-level employee and spent over two decades building expertise across some of ATB's most critical divisions. CEO Chris Turchansky said Talvio "holds an incredible depth of enterprise knowledge" and "has a clear vision for where we are looking to go," according to Yahoo Finance.
Talvio herself pointed to her roots as a strength. "Everyday Financial Services is the front door to ATB for many clients," she said. "Having started my career in our branches, I know firsthand the passion and dedication of our team members," as reported by Canada Newswire.
Talvio steps into the role on a wave of momentum. ATB reported record total revenue of $2.5 billion for fiscal year 2026 — a 15.4% jump year-over-year. Net income hit $542.9 million, up 56.2% from the prior year, according to Canada Newswire. Total assets under management exceeded $110 billion.
The EFS division was a key part of that performance. Provision for loan losses — money set aside for bad debt — fell 40.7% to $69.3 million. The bank also issued $5.6 billion in new residential mortgage loans and achieved a 95% mortgage renewal rate, a metric ATB highlights as a sign of strong client loyalty.
Talvio's appointment is the latest move under new CEO Chris Turchansky, who took office on January 1, 2026 after a North America-wide search following Curtis Stange's retirement. Turchansky previously led ATB's Business and Wealth divisions and has made "client obsession" a core theme of his early leadership, according to Wealth Professional.
Talvio replaces Lisa McDonald, who led EFS through the post-pandemic period and previously served as Chief Risk Officer. The back-to-back internal appointments — first Turchansky's successor search, now Talvio's promotion — reinforce what ATB calls a "Great Place to Work" culture. Forbes ranked ATB 8th among Canadian financial institutions in its 2026 World's Best Banks list, according to Investment Executive.
Despite the record numbers, Talvio enters a complicated environment. Economists warn of ongoing "geopolitical uncertainty" and "trade volatility" heading into late 2026. ATB operates only in Alberta, as a Crown corporation governed by the ATB Financial Act rather than the federal Bank Act — meaning its retail health is closely tied to Alberta's economy.
A longer-term challenge is digital transformation. As more clients shift to online banking, ATB's branches must evolve from transaction hubs into advisory centers. At the same time, independent review platforms tell a different story from the record profits: ATB holds a TrustScore of just 1.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot, pointing to a gap between corporate goals and day-to-day customer experience that Talvio will need to close.
