Amaroq Ltd. secures Main Market listing on London Stock Exchange after cancelling AIM trading

Amaroq Minerals Ltd. (AMRQ) has moved its shares from London's junior AIM market to the main market of the London Stock Exchange, a significant step up for the Greenland-focused gold mining company. The Common Shares will trade under the ticker AMRQ and keep their existing ISIN of CA02311U1030, according to Financial Post.
CEO Eldur Olafsson called the move "an important step in Amaroq's evolution as a producing mining company." The company says the upgrade will boost its visibility among international investors and shine a spotlight on mining opportunities in Greenland, National Post reported.
AIM is London's junior stock exchange, designed for smaller, growing companies. The main market of the London Stock Exchange is a bigger stage. It is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and attracts larger institutional investors. Moving up from AIM to the main market signals that a company has grown in scale and credibility.
Amaroq's shares will sit in the equity shares (commercial companies) category of the FCA's Official List. This is the standard category for established, revenue-generating businesses. The company also trades on NASDAQ Iceland and the OTCQX market in the United States, giving it exposure across three major markets, according to The Province.
Amaroq is one of the few active gold mining companies operating in Greenland. The island has become a growing focus for international resource investors. Its vast, largely untapped mineral wealth has attracted interest from governments and private companies alike. Amaroq describes itself as a "producing" mining company, meaning it is already pulling gold from the ground.
The company believes a main market listing will raise awareness of Greenland's resource opportunities among a broader pool of investors. Edmonton Sun noted that the upgrade is expected to enhance Amaroq's profile specifically among international institutional investors, who often require a main market listing before they can buy shares.
Despite the exchange upgrade, shareholders will notice little change in how the stock is identified. The company will continue to use the ISIN CA02311U1030. The ticker symbol remains AMRQ on NASDAQ Iceland and OTCQX. On the London main market, shares trade as AMRQ, making the transition straightforward for existing holders, according to Market Screener.
Moving to the main market is not just symbolic. It opens the door to a wider class of investors, including large funds that cannot hold AIM-listed shares. It can also lower borrowing costs and make it easier to raise money for mine development. For a company expanding operations in a remote and capital-intensive environment like Greenland, that access matters.
Olafsson's statement framed the listing as part of a longer journey. He described it as a step in the company's "evolution," suggesting further milestones are planned. Chatham Daily News and other outlets covering the announcement noted that Amaroq sees the main market listing as a platform for continued growth, not a final destination.
