Philo Offers Four Iconic Tarantino Films Free This July With No Sign-Up Required

Philo is streaming four Quentin Tarantino films for free throughout July — no sign-up, no credit card, no subscription needed. USA Today reports the films can be watched instantly through Philo's free, ad-supported platform, making it one of the easiest ways to catch classic Tarantino this summer.
The four films are Kill Bill: Vol. 1, Kill Bill: Vol. 2, Inglourious Basterds, and The Hateful Eight. Philo's free tier runs ads but requires nothing from the viewer to start watching. The offer runs through the end of July 2026.
Philo's editorial team called Tarantino "a visionary force in modern cinema" known for "razor-sharp dialogue and mastery of non-linear narratives." The four films span his most celebrated work. Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 blend martial arts and grindhouse style. Inglourious Basterds and The Hateful Eight showcase his slow-burn tension and sharp ensemble casts.
Watching any of the four requires no account at all. Just go to Philo's site and press play. Ads will run during the films, but they cannot be skipped without creating a free account. That free account still costs nothing — it just needs an email address.
Philo started as a cheap cable alternative at $25 per month. Over time it built a free, ad-supported layer on top. By July 2026, that free layer includes more than 150 live channels. On July 7, Philo added six new free channels, including a Miramax Movie Channel and BET x Tyler Perry.
The platform's Chief of Staff for its free tier, Sarah Wong, explained the thinking simply. She said Philo noticed subscribers watching free channels on other apps. "We decided, 'Why don't we try this out?'" Wong said. "Why not integrate free channels into the Philo ecosystem?" The Tarantino deal is a direct result of that strategy.
Philo offers something unusual for a free service: a 30-day DVR. But to use it, viewers must create a free account with just an email. No credit card is needed. Paid subscribers get a full year of DVR storage instead. The base paid plan costs $25 per month, and a bundle plan with HBO Max and AMC+ runs $33 per month.
Industry observers call this a classic loss-leader move. Philo gives away premium content to pull viewers in. Once inside the app, it can market paid upgrades directly. Streaming now makes up 44% of total TV viewing in the US, nearly matching traditional TV at 45%, according to Nielsen data cited in Media Play News. That makes capturing free-tier viewers a high-stakes game.
Watching The Hateful Eight or Inglourious Basterds with ads is not ideal for every viewer. Both films rely on slow pacing and rising tension. Programmatic ad breaks — the kind that cannot be skipped — cut directly into that experience. Film purists argue this format can undercut the dramatic power these movies are built on.
On the other hand, for viewers who simply want to see these films without paying for another streaming service, the trade-off may be worth it. Philo's free offer lasts the full month of July. After that, accessing these titles may require a paid subscription elsewhere — or none at all.
