Clear The Shelters 2026 campaign begins, driving thousands of pet adoptions and donations nationwide.

NBCUniversal Local's Clear The Shelters campaign is back for its 12th year, kicking off a monthlong push to find homes for animals in need. The 2026 campaign launched on July 15 and runs through the end of August, according to NBC Bay Area.
The campaign has already hit the ground running. Since July 15, more than 160,000 pets have been adopted, and participating shelters have raised over $628,000 in donations, NBC New York reported.
Clear The Shelters first launched in 2015. Since then, it has driven over 1.3 million pet adoptions and raised more than $5.6 million in donations for shelters and rescues across the country, according to NBC Miami.
The campaign runs through NBC and Telemundo's owned stations and affiliates nationwide. That wide reach helps connect local shelters with potential adopters in communities across the United States, NBC Washington reported.
This year marks a milestone for one of the campaign's key partners. Hill's Pet Nutrition, a longtime supporter of Clear The Shelters, is serving as the campaign's presenting sponsor for the first time ever, according to NBC DFW.
Hill's Pet Nutrition makes pet food and has worked with Clear The Shelters for years. Stepping up as presenting sponsor gives the brand a bigger role in helping shelters find animals their forever homes.
People can get involved in two ways — by adopting a pet or by donating money. Donations can go to the general Clear The Shelters Fund or directly to a specific shelter or rescue of your choice, NBC Philadelphia reported.
To find a participating shelter near you, visit the Clear The Shelters website. The campaign runs through the end of August 2026, giving families over six weeks to find their next pet.
