An Oxford Economics report says YouTube’s creative ecosystem contributed more than ₹18,000 crore to India’s GDP in 2025 and supported over 9.6 lakh full-time-equivalent jobs. The creator economy is spreading beyond major cities, with hubs such as Jaipur, Lucknow and Kochi creating demand for production workers; monetising creators also supported more than 3 lakh apprentices. Creator businesses are growing, with more channels earning substantial revenue and more than 18,000 Indian channels reaching one million subscribers, while 73% of monetising creators surveyed said YouTube was their primary income source. Regional and hyper-local content is reaching international audiences: more than 15% of watch time on Indian channels came from viewers abroad, and 81% of media companies with a YouTube presence said it helped them reach global audiences. YouTube is also pursuing AI, digital-skills and cultural-preservation initiatives in partnership with Indian institutions.
