Several people died or were feared drowned during Ganesh idol immersion ceremonies. In Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district, three boys aged 16–17 went missing in a river, and strong currents and rain hampered the search. Reports differed on other incidents in the state: one listed two boys missing in Khandwa and one death in Sehore, while another reported three youths dead in Dhar. In Telangana, an 18-year-old drowned in a water tank in Domakonda, and in Hyderabad a youth died after falling beneath a truck during an immersion procession. The Hyderabad incident is under investigation; the victim’s friends alleged he was fleeing a police lathi charge, an account authorities had not confirmed.
