Amazon Now Surpasses One Billion Dollars in India Sales Within a Year

Amazon India described Amazon Now as the fastest-growing e-commerce business unit in the company’s history, with its footprint expanding to four times as many cities in less than 10 weeks.

The service has begun reaching smaller locations beyond the major metros, including Padubidri, Tirupati, Guntur, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Vellore, Dharwad, Warangal and Berhampur.
Amazon plans to have 1,000 dark stores by the end of the year, alongside its target of reaching 100 cities by Diwali.
Amazon India country manager Samir Kumar said Prime is a major growth driver, but added that non-Prime customers are also arriving in significant numbers and converting to Prime as Amazon Now expands into smaller cities and towns.
Amazon Now, Amazon's quick-delivery service in India, has crossed $1 billion in annualized gross sales in just over a year since launching, according to News18. Orders have doubled every quarter, with the service now operating in more than 60 cities and handling roughly 700,000 orders daily.
The rapid growth makes Amazon Now the fastest-growing e-commerce unit in Amazon's history, NDTV reports. With a market share of about 10% by orders and 14% by sales value, Amazon Now ranks among the leading quick-commerce players in major metros like Delhi and Bengaluru, competing fiercely with Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart.
Amazon Now has achieved extraordinary growth momentum since its launch. The Hindu Business Line notes that orders have doubled each quarter, driven largely by Prime members who shop on the platform about three times more frequently than non-Prime customers.
