Local Communities Preview Diverse October Events Featuring Music, History, and Fundraisers

Upcoming community events include Creed Bratton’s music-and-comedy show at Felton Music Hall on Oct. 7 and the Santa Cruz Symphony’s “United Sounds of America” season opener Oct. 3–4. Devils Lake’s calendar features weekly markets, bingo and trivia, plus an Oct. 1 cemetery history walk and library book-club discussion. In Bella Vista, a Civil War Round Table program on the 1863 Battle of Helena is scheduled for Oct. 1, while the Garden Club’s annual card and games fundraiser will take place Oct. 30, with registration opening Oct. 1.
Creed Bratton’s Felton show combines music and comedy with stories from his career, including his time as guitarist for The Grass Roots and his work on “The Office.” Local comic Nic Trevino will moderate a Q&A, with fan questions submitted in advance.
The Devils Lake cemetery history walk will be led by Liz Janssen, Dave Oehlke and “Norm the dog,” and will focus on early Lake Region settlers and colorful local figures. A Q&A is planned afterward at Black Paws Brewery.
The Lake Region Arts Center has artwork on display and is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, with hours varying by day.
The Bella Vista Civil War Round Table program will be presented by University of Arkansas–Fort Smith assistant professor David Schieffer, who is writing a book about the Helena campaign. The event is free, with donations accepted to help cover speaker costs.
Proceeds from the Bella Vista Garden Club’s card and games fundraiser support scholarships for University of Arkansas students studying horticulture. Attendees bring their own cards and games; lunch is included with the $15 ticket.
