Primark recalls Halloween gonk doorstops after sand inside is found to contain asbestos.

Primark has recalled two Halloween gonk doorstep decorations after the Office for Product Safety and Standards warned that sand sealed inside them may contain a small quantity of asbestos. The affected decorations feature pumpkin and witch hats; customers should stop using them immediately and keep them away from children. If undamaged, place the item in a securely taped, labeled heavy-duty plastic bag and store it safely; if damaged, wear gloves and a mask and use wet cloths to clean up any exposed filling, then double-bag the item and cleaning materials. Customers can return the decorations to a Primark store for a full refund without a receipt, or contact their local authority for safe-disposal advice.
The affected items can be identified by their model numbers and barcodes: Witch Mini Gonk doorstop, model 991174794, barcode 212047125; Pumpkin Gonk doorstop, model 991179148, barcode 212080261.
Customers are specifically advised not to put the decorations in ordinary household rubbish; the NationalWorld report says they should follow the safe-storage and disposal guidance instead.
The Sun reports that the products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
The Sun places the recall in the context of other recent asbestos-related recalls, including more than 35 novelty seasonal doorstops recalled by Dunelm this year.
