Rare Van Gogh and Cezanne Paintings Expected to Fetch $300 Million at Auction

Sotheby's is set to auction a $450M art collection in New York, set to break both Van Gogh and Cézanne's auction records. The rare Vincent van Gogh painting is expected to sell for $180 million and set a new auction record. Sotheby’s also plans to sell a rare Paul Céz painting for $120 million, which is estimated to set a second record. The collection, owned by late Argentinian businessman Carlos Pedro Blaquier and art patron Nelly Arrieta de Blaquer, is described as one of the greatest remaining collections of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art in private hands. If all goes according to plan, Sothebys will make an estimated $450 million in less than an hour. The auction house is promoting the collection as the "El Dorado" of private art collections.
