Russia launches its first commercial 5G networks across sixteen cities for ten million residents.

The Digital Development Ministry said the 4.63–4.99 GHz spectrum was allocated to telecom companies free of charge and in equal shares, a measure it said would help preserve competition and keep tariffs affordable.
The ministry described 5G as an ecosystem for broader economic digitization, rather than merely faster mobile internet, citing potential applications including autonomous vehicles, robotic systems, telemedicine and industrial modernization.
