Bad Brains Plans November Release of Earliest Known Studio Recordings

Bad Brains will release Are You Ready: The First Studio Recording on Nov. 6 through Trust Records, presenting the Washington, D.C., hardcore pioneers’ earliest known studio recordings. Recorded during an hour-long session at Inner Ear Studios in March 1979, the six-song collection predates the later Black Dots recordings and includes an early version of “Pay to Cum.” Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat and Fugazi newly mixed the tracks, while “Pay to Cum” is being promoted with archival footage filmed at CBGB in October 1979. The release will be available on vinyl, cassette and digital formats, alongside events and an archival exhibition focused on the band’s formative years.
