Prime Video Nears Series Order for Live-Action Spider-Man Clone Saga Show

Prime Video is reportedly nearing a series order for an untitled live-action Spider-Man show inspired by Marvel’s Clone Saga, with Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker expected to lead. Kelvin Yu is writing, and Amy Pascal, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are expected to executive produce; one report also names Ben H. Winters as showrunner. The comics portray Reilly and Kaine as clones of Peter Parker, but reports differ on how closely the adaptation will follow the source material and say it could substantially change their origins and identities. The project is part of Sony’s broader television development deal with Amazon and is expected to debut on MGM+ before streaming on Prime Video. It remains in development, with no confirmed series order, cast or release date, following the cancellation of “Spider-Noir” after one season.
Nicolas Cage’s canceled Spider-Noir series also featured Ben Reilly, portraying him as a film-noir version of the character—giving the new project a connection to an earlier Prime Video Spider-Man adaptation.
Gizmodo reports that the show may not include Peter Parker because of rights restrictions, which could help explain why Sony’s Spider-Man television projects focus on other versions of the character.
In the Clone Saga comics, Ben Reilly took on the Scarlet Spider identity, and a major twist briefly raised the possibility that Ben—not Peter—was the original Spider-Man.
