Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet Launches Global 30th-Anniversary Live Concert Tour

The tour is presented by Communion One and GEA Live in collaboration with Disney Concerts and Baz Luhrmann.
The production is scheduled to visit three continents, with additional dates still to be announced; the U.S. leg is set to begin Jan. 9 in Pennsylvania and include more than 40 theaters nationwide.
Although the Cleveland performance is being held at Severance Music Center, the Cleveland Orchestra will not perform; the music will instead be played by the touring hybrid ensemble because the orchestra is scheduled to be in Miami that day.
The live soundtrack will also include Garbage’s “#1 Crush,” Quindon Tarver’s “Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good),” Kym Mazelle’s “Young Hearts Run Free” and The Wannadies’ “You and Me Song,” in addition to the songs highlighted in the summary.
General public ticket sales are scheduled to open at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, following presales beginning Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Baz Luhrmann's beloved 1996 film William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet is getting a global concert experience for its 30th anniversary. Broadway World reported that the film will be screened with live musicians, rock vocalists, orchestral players, electronics and a DJ performing the iconic soundtrack and score in real time. The tour kicks off at Sydney Opera House on September 29, 2027, then heads to North America, the UK and Europe with more than 40 US theater dates.
The production will feature hit songs tied to the film, including Des'ree's "Kissing You," Radiohead's "Talk Show Host," and Garbage's "#1 Crush." SSB Crack noted that the tour spans three continents with additional dates still being announced. General ticket sales open September 18, following presales that begin September 16.
This isn't a standard orchestral re-score. Broadway World explained that the hybrid ensemble combines rock and classical musicians, vocalists, a DJ and electronic elements all playing live alongside the film. The original dialogue and action from Luhrmann's version stay on screen. Director Baz Luhrmann said the event offers audiences a fresh way to feel the film's emotion, music and theatricality all at once.
The soundtrack pulls from the film's most memorable tracks. Beyond "Kissing You" and "Talk Show Host," the live band will play The Cardigans' "Lovefool," Quindon Tarver's "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)," Kym Mazelle's "Young Hearts Run Free," and The Wannadies' "You and Me Song," according to Broadway World.
The world premiere happens at Sydney Opera House on September 29, 2027. Broadway World reported that the US leg launches January 9 from Pennsylvania and includes more than 40 theaters nationwide. Cities with announced dates include Hershey, Cleveland and additional stops being added regularly across all three continents.
The UK leg covers Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, York, Birmingham and Manchester. SSB Crack noted tour stops extend to Canada—Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto is scheduled for January 26, 2027. Broadway World also confirmed dates in Jacksonville and at New Jersey Performing Arts Center on March 21.
Broadway World reported that Communion One and GEA Live are co-presenting the tour in collaboration with Disney Concerts and Baz Luhrmann himself. Producer Floris Douwes said the production honors the movie's lasting cultural impact on audiences worldwide. The scale spans theaters from intimate venues to major performing arts centers across multiple continents.
One note for Cleveland fans: Broadway World explained that while the tour stops at Severance Music Center, the touring hybrid ensemble will perform instead of the Cleveland Orchestra. The Orchestra has a Miami engagement scheduled that same day. Presales open Wednesday, September 16, with general sales Friday, September 18 at 10 a.m.
