Gypsy Rose Blanchard Launches Kenan’s Law Petition Following Tragic Death of Ken Urker

The petition is also referred to as the “Online Harassment Reporting and Accountability Act,” and TMZ reported that Blanchard identified TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Reddit as platforms where Urker allegedly faced cyberbullying.
The petition had gathered 382 signatures as of the publication of Us Weekly’s report.

TMZ cited an unnamed source who said Blanchard and Urker had been taking space from each other because of Urker’s drinking.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has launched a petition for "Kenan's Law" following the death of her former partner, Ken Urker, who was found dead at his Louisiana home on October 1, his 34th birthday. Us Weekly reported the petition, which calls on social media platforms to treat repeated harassment reports as patterns rather than isolated posts, had gathered 382 signatures. Blanchard says Urker faced targeted online harassment across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Reddit, but platforms repeatedly dismissed complaints.
TMZ reported that authorities discovered a brown powder substance and drug paraphernalia at Urker's Raceland, Louisiana residence, though the cause of death has not been officially established. AOL reported that Blanchard believes Urker died from a drug overdose. The petition, formally titled the "Online Harassment Reporting and Accountability Act," proposes five core changes: combined reporting of harassment complaints, human review of flagged accounts, meaningful appeals processes, evidence preservation, and greater platform transparency.
Blanchard told PEOPLE that before his death, Urker "experienced an overwhelming amount of online scrutiny" that "crossed the line into targeted harassment and cyberbullying." Fashion Times reported that she says reports were made across multiple platforms, but responses were consistently: "No violation." Blanchard stressed the petition is not meant to restrict legitimate criticism or free speech, but to force platforms to see coordinated attacks as systemic problems rather than individual posts.
The proposed law would mandate five specific changes. First, social media platforms must allow bulk or combined reporting of harassment so repeated attacks appear as patterns. Second, platforms must trigger human review once complaints cross a threshold. Third, platforms must create meaningful appeals processes where targeted users can present cumulative evidence. Fourth, platforms must preserve digital evidence for potential legal proceedings. Fifth, platforms must publish transparency reports on how they handle harassment complaints.
On September 30, family members observed Urker at church expressing feelings of depression. That evening, he appeared on a TikTok Live broadcast driving in silence. The next morning—October 1, his 34th birthday—he failed to show up for work and stopped answering calls and messages. AOL reported that authorities responded to a welfare check at 6:15 PM that evening. Relatives entered through an unlocked window and found him unresponsive on his bed.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office stated there were no initial signs of foul play. TMZ reported that deputies found a holstered handgun, syringes, a spoon, and the brown powder substance near his bed. An autopsy was scheduled at the Jefferson Parish Forensic Center, with final toxicology results expected within weeks. The cause of death remains pending.
Urker first connected with Blanchard in 2017 through prison correspondence while she served time for her role in her mother Dee Dee Blanchard's death. Their relationship was featured in Lifetime's *Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up*. TMZ reported that an unnamed source said the couple had been taking space from each other because of Urker's drinking. They share a 16-month-old daughter, Aurora.
