Justice Department Seeks Censure for Minnesota Judges Over New York Times Interviews

The Justice Department is seeking to censure both a former and sitting federal judge in Minnesota, Patrick Schiltz and Judge John Tunheim, who spoke to The New York Times about the Trump administration's immigration surge in the state. The complaint also seeks an investigation into other anonymous judges who also spoke to the Times. The Justice Department argues that the judges have violated the Code of Judicial Conduct by making inappropriate and unethical comments. A spokesperson for the U.S. District Court in Minnesota stated that the two judges were within the bounds of ethics guidelines and acted well within the ethical rules of the federal judiciary.
