Delhi Police have arrested all three men accused of posing as officers and gang-raping a 17-year-old girl at Astha Kunj Park near Kalkaji Temple on September 21. Suspect Shot During Police Arrest Operation
Early on Tuesday morning, Delhi Police located Asif near DM Office Road in Amar Colony. During the interception, India's News reported that Asif fired three rounds at officers. Head Constable Rajesh returned fire in self-defense, and one bullet struck Asif in the right leg. Another shot hit the constable's bulletproof vest but did not penetrate. Asif was arrested and taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre for treatment.
The rapid arrest of Asif led police to the other two suspects. NDTV reported that brothers Hemant and Mukesh were arrested at their Sri Niwaspuri residence later that morning. All three were in custody by midday Tuesday, less than 12 hours after the initial report. Police credited swift coordination between units for the quick resolution.
