Downtown Wine Walks Draw Large Crowds as Fall Tasting Events Begin Across States

Downtown wine walks are bringing tastings and local entertainment to communities in several states. Tracy’s annual Wine Stroll drew hundreds of visitors to 41 downtown tasting stops, with live music, food trucks and vendor booths. Evansville’s Spooky Wine Walk is scheduled for Oct. 2, featuring wine, shopping, performances, live music and Halloween activities; admission includes two pours for guests 21 and older. Racine’s Fall Wine Walk will offer samples of wine, beer and seltzer at 30 downtown stops on two Saturdays, Oct. 10 and 17. In Lake Oswego, the Chamber’s Oct. 3 walk will feature wine tastings and food at 35 locations, with a mix of local and international wines.
Tracy’s Wine Stroll featured pours from local wineries including Scotto Family Cellars, Wente Vineyards, Windmill Ridge Winery, Idle Cellars, McGrail Vineyards, Darcie Kent Estate Winery and Garre.
Evansville’s Spooky Wine Walk admission is $15 in advance and includes a commemorative tumbler and two drink tickets for 4-ounce pours; tickets cost $25 at the event. The event is open to all, though wine is served only to guests 21 and older.
Evansville’s event will include fire performances, a costume contest with prizes, $5 tarot readings and a photo station, as well as music by MacroGeo and Cher’Rita Horne & Toby Ellis.
At Lake Oswego’s walk, each location will offer two wine tastings and hors d’oeuvres; some stops will have music, and Lions Capital Mortgage will serve sushi from Momo Sushi. A shuttle will help attendees get around.
Lake Oswego Chamber CEO Liz Hartman said the event would feature premium wines and that it regularly sells out; organizers expected this year’s walk to sell out as well.
