Amit Shah's Uniform Civil Code Pledge Exposes Strains Within the NDA Alliance

JD(U) leader Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said the party is also awaiting the UCC bill’s exact wording before deciding its position, adding that the party would raise any concerns directly with Amit Shah and seek amendments or clarifications if necessary.
The JD(U) is considering a proposal to rename itself the Janata Dal (Nitish), an issue discussed alongside the party’s position on the UCC and the RJD’s invitation to Nitish Kumar.
Tripura’s month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will not fully gather pace until after September 29 because the model code of conduct is in force for elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.
Tripura has formed a monitoring committee led by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy to supervise a 12-point programme spanning urban areas, schools and anganwadi centres, with ministers, legislators and other public representatives expected to participate.
