Lakes Blue Energy Secures $8.7M Capital to Accelerate Wombat Gas Field Development in Victoria

For every new share issued in Lakes Blue Energy NL's placement and entitlement offer, the company will issue one free unlisted attaching option.
The entitlement offer is partially underwritten up to $2.7 million.
Placement settlement date is set for 6 August 2026, with the offer open to eligible shareholders from 7 to 18 August 2026 in Australia and New Zealand.
Wombat-5 production testing indicates gas shows spanning from methane (C1) to pentane (C5) across the tested intervals, suggesting a broad gas profile.
Following Wombat-5 testing, the plan includes reservoir protection using a specially formulated inhibited fluid and a propellant-enhanced perforation program targeting about 156 metres of high-quality gas-bearing sands, followed by flow testing to establish a baseline flow rate.
Lakes Blue Energy NL is raising approximately $8.7 million to push its Wombat Gas Field development in Victoria toward cash generation, the Australian company announced. The raise combines a $4.0 million institutional placement and a partially underwritten $4.69 million entitlement offer, both priced at $0.30 per share, according to Grafa.
Production testing at the Wombat-5 well has already confirmed gas-charged reservoirs across three zones. The company says the Wombat project could help ease gas supply shortfalls on Australia's east coast, pointing to its onshore location and high-quality gas as key advantages.
The $4.0 million placement settles on 6 August 2026. Existing shareholders can then join the entitlement offer from 7 to 18 August 2026, according to Kalkine Media. The offer is non-renounceable, meaning shareholders who don't participate cannot sell their rights to others.
Every new share issued — in both the placement and the entitlement offer — comes with one free unlisted attaching option. The entitlement offer is partially underwritten up to $2.7 million, according to Kalkine. This gives the company a floor of guaranteed funding even if some shareholders don't participate.
Production testing at Wombat-5 found gas shows spanning from methane (C1) all the way to pentane (C5) across tested intervals. That broad range signals a rich gas profile, which the company says strengthens the field's commercial case, as TipRanks reported.
The next steps are specific and technical. The plan includes reservoir protection using a specially formulated inhibited fluid. Then comes a propellant-enhanced perforation program targeting roughly 156 metres of high-quality gas-bearing sands. Flow testing follows to set a baseline production rate.
Lakes Blue Energy will use the $8.7 million to fund perforation, stimulation, and flow testing at the Wombat field. The company says these workstreams are designed to accelerate potential cash generation from the project, according to Grafa.
The Wombat Gas Field sits in Victoria's onshore Gippsland Basin. Lakes Blue Energy argues its location gives it a natural edge in supplying the east coast gas market, where analysts have flagged growing supply shortfalls in coming years.
Alongside the capital raise, the company refreshed its board. Boyd White resigned as a director. Veteran stockbroker Hugh Walter Robertson stepped in as a new non-executive director, according to Grafa.
The board change, paired with the largest single capital raise in recent company history, points to a new phase of execution focus. With Wombat-5 data in hand and $8.7 million incoming, Lakes Blue Energy is moving from exploration mode toward development and potential production.
